Making the Headlines

Highlights of
the Year Here are some highlights from the 2009-10
school year. Homecoming King and Queen was Adam Greenman and
Kait Kio. Look at the homecoming
page for pictures. In February, the Blood Drive was a huge
turnout with 64 units of blood donated. See the
Blood Drive page for pictures. The
French Club held the night of games which included volleyball
and basketball games. For pictures, click
here. Showcase was held in March. The senior high show
choir, junior high show choir, and elementary ensemble

pictures. The track guys took an undefeated season this year
while the girls only lost two meets. Congratulations! See the

was selected to the All-Star team in softball for third base.

Art Show. The Drama presented the
fall play Oklahoma and the Spring Musical The Boyfriend

The Marching Band had a fine performance this fall. They took
fifth place in the Autumn Classic. Click

Peer
Helping Officers For the 2010-2011 school year,
the Peer Helpers chose new officers. The President is Colleen
Hardes, Vice President; Sara Borro, Secretary; Brittany
Reinard, Treasurer; Jacob Stehle, and Parliamentarian; Scott
Brookens. Congrautlations!

Yearbook Slideshow Online The
Yearbook Slideshow has become an
annual event shown during the Awards Assembly each spring.
The staff captures the highlights from the past school year in
photos and sets them to music for a unique view of PAHS.
If you did not get a chance to see it, you can view it online
on the Yearbook page.

Flaming Foliage
Congratulations to Bryanna Evens for being selected
as the Flaming Foliage candidate for Port Allegany and Renee
Edgell for being selected as Miss Port Allegany.

Four County
Track and Field Bests For the 200 dash Cameron
Lane took first with 23.14. In the 400-relay the team of Adam
Greenman, Denzel Middleton, Max Morris and Ben Osani with a
time of 45.94 tied for second. Camrin Stuckey took third for
Javelin 165'3.5". James Nellis took second in the high jump
with 6'. Girls 400 relay took third with a team of Sara Borro,
Kelsey Payne, Breanna Foster, and Bryanna Evens.
Congratulations to Bryanna Evens, Camerin Stuckey, Max
Morris, Adam Greenman, Ben Osani, and Nick Conway for their
fine performance at the district track meet.

Currently, we offer features and sports. We would except
other well-written articles. We are under "construction" fir
some graphics--working with BSU--and are working on new
stories. We have been improving the appearance to get it
to an attractive level, and we still have more to do.

Sports
Physicals Physicals for next fall will be done
this summer. Correct paperwork needs to be handed in prior to
the physicals. Boys physicals will be held Tuesday, July 6.
Girls physicals will be held Wednesday July 7. Last name A-D will be from 8-9a.m.
Last name E-H will be from 9-10a.m., I-N from 10-11a.m., and
O-Z from 11-12. The make up day will be Monday, July 12. You can get your paperwork from Mrs. Mulcahey
now.

Flu Information The district would like to
make parents aware of important information regarding the H1N1

help citizens learn about and control the spread of the H1N1

The administration at Port Allegany School District has made available the
plagiarism policies in use by the English Department at the high school.

PASD Meets AYP
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has made available
information regarding the district's academic performance.
We're pleased to announce that the Port Allegany School District has
met AYP levels set by the Department of Education for the year
2007-08. Information for all schools in PA can be viewed at PDE's web site
www.paayp.com. Port Allegany's information can be found by

The Port Allegany School District has released its Annual

For Your Information

The Port Allegany School District welcomes
community members who wish to walk in the high school hallways for
exercise. Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. and
4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. have been set aside for walking by community
members. If community members desire to walk on the track,
they are asked to use the gates by the high school gymnasium.

The district has implemented a Senior Activity
Pass for any resident of the school district who is 65 years of
age or older. Eligible residents should register in the
Superintendent's Office to receive their activity pass. The
pass is good for all extra-curricular activities.

In the event of inclement weather or any other
event that causes a delay or closing of school, we ask that you
listen to the local radio stations where notification will be
made. District personnel will contact the following radio
stations to announce delays or closings: WHKS
- 94.9, WPIG - 95.7, WBRR
- 100.1, WQRM - 106.3, WPSU - 90.1, WFRM
- 600 AM, WKBW - Channel 7, WVIB -
Channel 4, WGRZTV - Channel 2,
WTAJ - Channel 10, and gerrimiller.com.
District personnel asks you cooperation in not calling the schools
as available staff will be involved in other responsibilities
related to the delay or closing. -
"Homework Help on PIN" channel 28, is a weekly
call-in program for students and parents. This interactive
program makes state certified math and science teachers available
for students and parents who need help with homework. The
program is televised on Sundays from 5 -7 PM throughout the school
year.
